DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Input your axle weights, whether from a platform scale or individually, and the app will calculate the amount of over or under for each axle, including the gross weight. In just one click, you'll receive suggestions on where to slide. It's that simple.

Hole #1 refers to the hole nearest to the front of the trailer. Count up as you move backwards towards the first pin of the tandem axle.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Trucker's Slide Calc utilizes an advanced computer algorithm to simulate the axle weights at each hole. It then determines the optimal hole for the given situation.

In order to save fuel and money, the app prioritizes balancing drives and trailers by slightly increasing weight on the drives for improved traction and fuel efficiency.

If achieving equal balance of axles results in an axle exceeding its weight limit, the app will strive to keep axles within legal limits while sacrificing perfect balance.

If it is not possible for all axles to be legal simultaneously, the app will automatically suggest a hole where trailers will be just under their weight limit, while distributing the remaining weight on the drives. This allows for efficient fuel consumption and compliance with DOT Scale regulations.

HOW ACCURATE IS IT?

Allow us to share a real-life example from one of our users who loaded onions onto a 53' Refer Semi. Upon obtaining a scale ticket from a CAT Scale and entering the weights into our app, these were the initial results:

  • 1st CAT Scale: @ hole 4
  • Steers: 11,780 lbs
  • Drives: 32,480 lbs
  • Trailers: 35,160 lbs

Based on our axle slide calculator's recommendation, the driver slid forward 3 holes and went directly to hole 7. The projected weights at hole 7 were:

  • Calculated Axle Weights: @ hole 7
  • Drives: 33,675 lbs
  • Trailers: 33,965 lbs

After adjusting the tandem position and re-weighing the truck, the driver shared his excitement with us:

  • 2nd CAT Scale: @ hole 7
  • Steers: 11,800 lbs
  • Drives: 33,740 lbs
  • Trailers: 33,880 lbs

The results were remarkably accurate, with only a deviation of 65 lbs on the drives and 85 lbs on the trailers. This equates to over 99.5% accuracy, which we find truly impressive. We firmly believe that our axle-weight calculator is unrivaled in its accuracy and functionality. The best part? It's completely free!
